KATO HD512-7 – 12-ton Class Crawler Excavator

The KATO HD512-7 is a 13-ton class, ultra short tail swing crawler excavator designed for civil construction, utilities, roadworks and rental fleets where a compact footprint and strong digging power are both essential. Built in Japan, it is powered by an Isuzu 4JJ1X 4-cylinder turbo-diesel (Stage IV / Tier 4 Final) delivering about 78.5 kW at 2,000 rpm, giving the machine high productivity with low fuel consumption and low emissions.

With an operating weight of around 12,900 kg and bucket capacities from 0.25 to 0.60 m³, the HD512-7 offers a maximum bucket digging force in the 94–98 kN range, placing it at the top end of its class for breakout performance. Its compact tail and overall dimensions (approx. 7.66 m long, 2.49 m wide, 2.82 m high) make it easy to work in tighter jobsites or alongside traffic, while still providing a digging depth of about 5.59 m and a horizontal reach of roughly 8.3 m.

The operator’s cab is designed for comfort and safety, typically featuring air-conditioning, adjustable suspension seat, clear multi-function display and rear-view camera, helping reduce fatigue over long shifts and improving all-round visibility.
